    To lay down the procedure for Preventive Maintenance of Instruments\/Equipment\u2019s.<\/p>\n

    1. Scope:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      This SOP is applicable for Preventive Maintenance of Instruments\/Equipments to prevent the failure of Instruments\/Equipments before it actually occurs in Quality Control Department.<\/p>\n

      1. Responsibility:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        • Quality Control Department: To prepare and review the SOP. To follow the procedures laid down for Preventive Maintenance of Instruments\/Equipments in Quality Control Department as per this SOP.<\/li>\n
        • Engineering Department: To carry out preventive maintenance as per schedule and procedure defined.<\/li>\n
        • Quality Assurance Department: To review and approve the SOP and Annexures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              \u00a0\u00a0 5.1<\/strong><\/td>\nPreventive Maintenance of Instruments\/Equipment\u2019s:<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
              5.1.1<\/td>\nPreventive Maintenance is a schedule of planned maintenance actions aimed at the prevention of breakdowns and failures.<\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
              <\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
              5.1.2<\/td>\nThe ideal Preventive Maintenance programme would prevent all equipment failures before it occurs.<\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
              5.1.3<\/td>\nLong Term Benefits of Preventive Maintenance:<\/p>\n

              1. Improved Instrument Reliability<\/p>\n

              2. Decreased cost of replacement<\/p>\n

              3. Reduces Equipments\/Instruments Downtime<\/td>\n

              5.1.4<\/td>\nPreventive Maintenance activities include Equipments\/Instruments checks, partial or complete overall checks at specified interval\/period, e.g. oil changes, lubrication of parts, cleaning of parts.<\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
              5.1.5<\/td>\nIn addition to the above the analyst has to maintain the usage log book for all the major instruments.<\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
              5.1.6<\/td>\nOn the basis of the usage record and observations, an idea of the replacement of worn parts can be obtained.<\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
              5.1.7<\/td>\nPreventive Maintenance of all major equipments is to be carried out as per Annual Preventive Maintenance Schedule by Engineering Department and the necessary records of the same should be maintained.<\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
              5.1.8<\/td>\nOn the day of Preventive Maintenance, label the Instrument\/Equipment as \u201cUnder Preventive Maintenance\u201d.<\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
              5.1.9<\/td>\nCarry out the parameters for Preventive Maintenance as mentioned in individual Instrument\/Equipment SOP.<\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
              5.1.10<\/td>\nPreventive Maintenance Checklist shall be prepared for all Instruments\/Equipments as per Annexure.<\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
              5.1.11<\/td>\nPreventive Maintenance shall be carried out for analytical Instruments\/Equipments as per frequency mentioned in Annual Preventive Maintenance Schedule and Preventive Maintenance window shall be \u00b1 7 working days from the due date of PM.<\/td>\n <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

                • Preventive Maintenance: Maintenance activity performed to ensure that the Instrument\/Equipment will function smoothly and to avoid breakdowns. These activities are performed as per predefined frequency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
