Open it without losing\u00a0any part of the shell and remove the contents as completely\u00a0as possible. For soft gelatin\u00a0capsules, wash the shell with a\u00a0suitable solvent and keep aside until the odour of the solvent\u00a0is not perceptible. Weigh the shell. The difference between\u00a0the weighing gives the weight of the contents. Repeat the\u00a0procedure with another 19 capsules.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For powders for <\/strong><strong>parenteral use<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Remove any adhering labels\u00a0from a container and wash and dry the outside. Open the\u00a0container and immediately weigh it along with the contents.\u00a0Empty it as completely as possible by gentle tapping, rinse it\u00a0with\u00a0water<em>\u00a0<\/em>and then with\u00a0ethanol<em>.\u00a0<\/em>Dry at 100\u00b0C to 105\u00b0C for one\u00a0hour, or if the nature of the contents does not permit drying at\u00a0this temperature, dry at a lower temperature to constant weight.\u00a0Cool in a\u00a0desiccator\u00a0and weigh. The difference in the weighing\u00a0gives the weight of the contents of the container.
